modeled him as a noble and idealistic politician, which is a rarity in the galaxy far, far away.

Considering he wasn’t in the mud for his personal gain and genuinely wanted to help other people, it’s not hard to see why he is often regarded as one of the most underrated figures from the prequel trilogy.

But barring the prequel trilogy and the Clone Wars, for the most part, Bail Organa has been relegated to the corner in his latter Star War appearances, which involve Rogue One, and the Obi-Wan Kenobi.

With the second season of Andor on the horizon, many are expecting Smit to return in the shoes of Bail Organa, which makes sense as season 2 has the task of bridging the gap between the prequel series and Rogue One. But considering Andor’s original five-season plan to explore the five-year-long story was trimmed down to two, even if Smit returns as Organa, he might not have a major presence, as the show already has a lot on its plate.

As for why the original five-year plan was canceled, showrunner Tony Gilroy later admitted that the idea wasn’t feasible in the long run, adding that it was his naivete that got the better of him during the first season (via Gizmodo).

The hubris and naivete and stupidity with which I entered this process, we all kind of did. How are we going to do these five years? It was just impossible, absolutely impossible.

Given how prominent his character was in the Republic’s eventual fall in the prequel trilogy, it’s a shame his character was never given the same attention in the latter live-action additions.

Andor will premiere on April 22 on Disney+.
