The newest movie has earned high praise from the author himself. Stephen King is an iconic and prolific author who is best known for his work in the horror genre. He made his debut with the 1974 novel Carrie and has since gone on to publish more than 60 novels and nearly 200 short stories. Quite a few of his movies have been major box office blockbusters as well, such as 2017's It (which grossed $704.2 million against a $40 million budget) and 2007's 1408 (which grossed $133 million against $25 million).
Stephen King has shared high praise for The Monkey. The upcoming movie, which was written and directed by Longlegs' Osgood Perkins, is adapted from King's own 1980 short story of the same name, which was first published in Gallery magazine and later appeared as part of the 1985 collection Skeleton Crew. The cast of the upcoming The Monkey also includes Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Christian Convery, Colin O'Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy.
Christian Convery, who is best known for his lead role in Netflix's Sweet Tooth, plays younger versions of Hal and Bill.
On his official Threads account, Stephen King shared his reaction to a screening of the movie a month ahead of its theatrical premiere. reminding readers that he has "indulged in batsh-ttery from time to time" and thus knows exactly what he is talking about. He had further praise for the Osgood Perkins project, saying that viewers have "never seen anything like" it. See the original post below:

having such kind things to say about the Monkey movie is not a given. when he does not respond to them, particularly when it comes to Kubrick's 1980 movie The Shining, which he called "totally empty and totally flat.” He did not even mince words during the promotional campaign for The Shining, responding "no comment" to inquiries about what he thought of it. Thus, this praise for the Osgood Perkins movie would seem to be coming from a genuine place for the author.
