Invincible Star Teases Major SNL Role (Exclusive)

The animated Prime Video hit Invincible boasts a cast filled with many familiar actors lending their voices to the characters. One of them has a history with Saturday Night Live.

At the red carpet premiere for the upcoming Invincible Season 3, which will debut on Prime Video on Feb. 6, Jay Pharoah addressed a possible comeback to Saturday Night Live when speaking to CBR's Grae Drake. The actor joined Invincible in 2023 for Season 2 as Zandale Randolph / Bulletproof, and he's set to return for the upcoming Season 3. In Invincible, he also voices Komodo Dragon.

Saturday Night Live cast member James Austin Johnson has admitted it was “pretty nerve-wracking” to impersonate Adam Driver to his face.

Aside from a series of comedy roles and voiceover roles, Jay Pharoah has a long history with Saturday Night Live. He debuted on the show in 2010 in Season 36 and was part of the main cast until Season 41 in 2016.

Teasing about what's coming next for him as a person, he teased a major role on Saturday Night Live when asked if he would host the show any time soon. "Listen, . So, I Yeah, but, I think it's coming. It's in the works. Absolutely."

Saturday Night Live Star Bill Hader Reveals Which Controversial Guest Called the Show 'Incredibly Unfunny'

Former Saturday Night Live star Bill Hader has revealed the one guest who told him the show was “incredibly unfunny.”

Pharoah exited the show ahead of the 42nd season alongside Taran Killam. The two reunited on Sept. 18, 2024 on the late-night game show After Midnight, hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, in Season 2, Episode 10.

Speaking about his voice acting role in Invincible, Pharoah noted, "There's a lot of takes but you can put a lot of emotion into it, and if it doesn't work, you just do it again, you keep going, and they just have a bunch of different ways you did it, and it's really fun." Invincible is far from Pharoah's first voiceover role, as he has also lent his voice to Legends of Chamberlain Heights, several characters in Family Guy, Zookeeper Dan in Loafy, and Drederick Tatum in five episodes of The Simpsons, among others.

Teasing the upcoming Season 3 of Invincible in just one word, the actor described it as "." He continued, "I've been there since the beginning, and and to be the cool cousin at Thanksgiving just because you're in Invincible, it's the best thing ever."

The series was created by The Walking Dead comic book co-creator Robert Kirkman, and boasts a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes as an average for its three seasons. Season 1 has a Certified Fresh 98% score, and Season 2 has a perfect 100% score. Ahead of the upcoming installment, Season 3 also debuted with a perfect 100% score out of 12 reviews. So far, there's no audience score for the upcoming season, but overall, Invincible has a score of 88% from the audience. The hit animated series has also been renewed for Season 4.

Invincible Season 3 premieres on Feb. 6 on Prime Video.
