Into the Badlands and The Santa Clause Stars to Play Milly Alcock's Parents in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

New casting news has been revealed for the upcoming movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Serving as as part of the DCU created by James Gunn and Peter Safran, the film will feature Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) in the role of Supergirl.

The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will also feature (The Santa Clause) and (Into the Badlands). The two actors will be playing Supergirl's parents in the film. Their casting follows the recent revelation that Jason Momoa (Aquaman) had joined the cast to play the DCU's incarnation of Lobo. Other known casting choices include Eve Ridley as Ruthye and Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem.

Krumholtz is known in part for playing Bernard, the fan favorite elf character, in Tim Allen's Christmas movie The Santa Clause. He later appeared in the first sequel before popping up in the Disney+ revival series, The Santa Clauses. Krumholtz also starred in the hit show Numb3rs, with other TV credits including Partners, White House Plumbers, and Batman: Caped Crusader. In 2023, he appeared in Christopher Nolan's hit film Oppenheimer.

Beecham starred as The Widow in AMC's hit series Into the Badlands before going on to star in the TV shows The Pursuit of Love and 1899. She also had a starring role in The Village, and has appeared in feature films like Cruella, Guy Ritchie's The Covenant, and Stockholm Bloodbath. She was nominated for multiple acting awards for her role in the 2017 movie Daphne, in which she played the titular character. Both Krumholtz and Beecham also appeared in the Coen brothers' 2016 movie Hail, Caesar!.

The Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie takes inspiration from the comic book story of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, the movie just recently started shooting in the UK. It will serve as one of the first feature films set in the DCU, following the release of James Gunn's Superman in July of this year. There have been rumors of Milly Alcock first appearing in another DCU project, possibly Superman, before she stars in her own movie. However, it hasn't been confirmed at this time.

"I didn't necessarily know that Supergirl would be the second movie we were going to make, but Ana [Nogueira] wrote an incredible script, and then we hired an incredible director, and we're going to do this movie after Superman because he was the best option," Gunn said about Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow following up Superman, per Omelete.com.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be released in theaters on June 26, 2026.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is one of many DC movies being released by Warner Bros. under the supervision of DC co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow was officially confirmed in January 2023 alongside other DC titles, including Superman: Legacy, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Swamp Thing.
