Right now, filming is happening in Toronto, Canada, and it’s expected to go on until October 2025. So far, Toronto is the main place for shooting, but it’s still unknown if other cities will be used, like in Season 2, which was filmed in spots like Prague, Paris, and New Orleans.
Showrunner Rolin Jones has kept details under wraps, but fans know that when the show goes quiet, it usually means something exciting is coming.
Back in June 2024, AMC gave fans a hint about what’s coming in Season 3. They said the story would focus on the vampire Lestat, who’s tired of how he’s been portrayed before. Now, he’s setting things right by starting a band and going on tour.
Along the way, characters like Gabrielle, Nicholas, Magnus, Marius, and the mysterious Those Who Must Be Kept will join Louis, Armand, and others on a wild journey through space, time, and tough experiences. The teaser promised “No Auto-Tuning. No Trigger Warnings. All Feels Amplified.”
From this, we already know several actors are returning, including Sam Reid as Lestat, Jacob Anderson as Louis, Assad Zaman as Armand, and a few others. But fans are still waiting to find out who will play important new characters like Gabrielle, Marius, Magnus, and Those Who Must Be Kept.
Season 3 is a big shift for the show. While the first two seasons focused mostly on Louis, his past, his regrets, and the secrets he uncovered, this season puts Lestat front and center. Fans of Anne Rice’s books know there’s a big change in tone between Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat, and the show is embracing that shift fully.
For those new to the story, The Vampire Lestat is told from Lestat’s point of view. It covers his difficult childhood in 18th-century France, how he became a vampire, and the discovery of ancient vampire secrets. And yes, Lestat becomes a rockstar in the 1980s.
Even with changes to fit the show’s timeline, two things won’t change: Interview with the Vampire never plays it safe, and the love story between Louis and Lestat remains at its heart, no matter how messy or wild things get.
This season will introduce new characters that fans have been eager to see. Gabrielle, Marius, Magnus, and then there are Those Who Must Be Kept—also known as Akasha and Enkil, ancient, godlike vampires who have appeared in previous episodes in mysterious ways.
Akasha, the Queen of the Damned, is expected to be a big threat this season and might become the main villain in Season 4.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, AMC gave fans a sneak peek with a teaser that included one of Lestat’s original songs. The song is part of a fictional rock album made for the show, composed by Daniel Hart and sung by Sam Reid.
Showrunner Rolin Jones later confirmed at the ATX TV Festival in May 2025 that the entire album, with 16 songs, is finished.
Now that filming is underway, fans can probably expect more teasers, maybe even another reveal at SDCC 2025 or sometime in early fall.
There isn’t an official release date yet, but if filming and post-production go like before, Season 3 might come out around May 2026.
