Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations Minister, Sam Nartey George has inaugurated a committee to provide the country with a roadmap on how to reduce data costs.

The committee chaired by the Communications Minister has been given 14 working days to produce a road map that will lead to a reduction in the cost of data and make it accessible for all citizens.

The committee is made up of representatives of the Ministry of Finance; Energy; NCA; PURC; Chamber of Telecommunications; National Union of Ghana Students; Ghana Bloggers Association; Ghana Payment & Fintech Association; and Association of Content Creators.

The cost of data has been a major issue for several Ghanaians, especially the youth who are into content creation.

It is believed that the reduction in the cost of data will make content creation more economical.

The Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations Ministry in a post shared via social media said “The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP) chairs Inter-Agency Data Pricing Committee, inaugurated today with the task to assess prevailing pricing models and make recommendations.

The Committee has 14 working days to produce a road map that will lead to the reduction in the cost of data and make it accessible for all citizens.

The committee is made up of representatives of the Ministry of Finance; Energy; NCA; PURC; Chamber of Telecommunications; National Union of Ghana Students; Ghana Bloggers Association; Ghana Payment & Fintech Association and Association of Content Creators”.
