Inside Joplin Obituaries: Margaret Dodson
(From Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home)
Margaret Ruth Dodson, a beacon of love and passion, passed away naturally on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the age of 76 in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on September 6, 1948, in LaRussell, to the union of the late Floyd and Jaunita (Harmon) Turner. Margaret lived a life marked by devotion to her family.
Margaret met the love of her life, Richard Leon Dodson, and they united in marriage on June 5, 1964. Their journey together was one of mutual respect, unwavering support, and endless love. Together, they raised three sons: Gary Dodson of Monett, Eric Dodson and his wife Amy of Aurora, and Josh Dodson and his wife Amelia of Sarcoxie. Margaret's role as a mother was one, she held with the utmost pride and joy.
Blessed with six grandchildren—Dylan, Riley, Samantha, Dalton, Kierston, and Braxel Dodson; three step-grandchildren, Allison Sooter, Trent Patterson and Aubree Rogerson—Margaret embraced every moment with them. Her legacy further extended to a host of great-grandchildren, each of whom added a sparkle to her eye and joy to her heart. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Annalee Stow and husband John. Although she was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved grandson Jordan Dodson, Margaret's nurturing spirit and love continue to live on through her family.
Margaret's professional life was as a dedicated and successful dog breeder and kennel manager. Her passion for her work was evident in the care she provided for every animal. Margaret was a woman of many interests, but above all, she treasured the time spent with her husband, sons, and grandchildren. She took immense pride in her family, and her love for them was the cornerstone of her existence. The love she had for her husband was the kind that stories are written about—a true partnership that stood the test of time. Her life was a tapestry woven with the threads of love, commitment, and passion for her family and her work. Margaret's absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire her loved ones.
Margaret's life will be celebrated in a manner that honors the love and warmth she spread so freely. Her memory will be cherished, her laughter missed, and her presence forever felt in the lives of her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many friends who were like family.
The family of Margaret Ruth Dodson wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the love and support shown during this time. Her life was a gift to us all, and while we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the extraordinary woman she was.
