IndiGo, Delta, Air France-KLM, Virgin Atlantic Form Strategic Alliance

IndiGo, Delta Air Lines, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic have announced a significant partnership aimed at enhancing air connectivity between India, Europe, and North America. This collaboration seeks to streamline travel and offer more options for passengers flying between these key global regions.

The primary driver for this four-way alliance is the increasing demand for international travel. By linking dozens of cities across the United States, Canada, Europe, and India, the airlines intend to set new benchmarks for connectivity and cooperation within the global aviation industry, according to a release.

IndiGo, recognized as India's largest airline, is actively expanding its international footprint. The airline is set to commence flights to ten new overseas cities within the current fiscal year, which concludes in March 2026. This new collaboration builds upon IndiGo's existing partnerships with Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic, which have been operational since 2022.

During a joint briefing in New Delhi where the partnership was announced, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian revealed plans for the carrier to restart its services to India in the coming years. Specifically, Delta intends to resume direct flights between Atlanta and Delhi, subject to receiving the necessary government approvals.

The partnership was formally unveiled by IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian, Air France-KLM CEO Benjamin Smith, and Virgin Atlantic CEO Shai Weiss. This strategic move underscores the dynamic nature of India, which is acknowledged as one of the world's fastest-growing civil aviation markets.
