Indiana Fever Had Words After Snapping Three-Game Losing Streak

Published 2 days ago2 minute read

After losing three games in a row, the Indiana Fever finally won a game without Caitlin Clark, who was sidelined with a strained quad about a week ago.

On Tuesday, they hosted the Washington Mystics in their first game of the Commissioner's Cup, the WNBA's in-season tournament. Thanks to a strong third quarter, they took a sizable lead and cruised to an 85-76 victory.

They now have a 3-4 record on the season, and the team went to its official X account to make it known that it is 1-0 in Commissioner's Cup play.

"1-0 in Commissioner's Cup ✔️," the caption on the post read.

The team also had a similar post on Instagram.

Guard Kelsey Mitchell, who had been struggling with her shot this season coming into this game, scored 24 points and went 7-of-14 from the field and 4-of-7 from 3-point range. Lexie Hull hit six of her nine shot attempts to score 14 points while adding six rebounds and four assists.

The three losses in a row the Fever had prior to Tuesday came by a combined total of just 10 points. The first of those losses came to the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty on May 24, when they blew a 12-point fourth-quarter lead. Just before time expired, Clark couldn't get off a potential game-winning 3-point attempt, as Natasha Cloud knocked the basketball away from her.

On Friday, they fell 85-83 to the Connecticut Sun after falling behind by as many as 15 points in the final period.

Indiana will next visit Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on Saturday before playing the Atlanta Dream next Tuesday and the Liberty on June 14.
