As June comes to a close, TheIndustry.fashion reflects on another headline-grabbing month in British retail and beyond.
Frasers Group opened the doors to its latest concept store in Dundee, marking a new chapter in the group’s evolving physical retail strategy. Located in the heart of the city’s Overgate Shopping Centre, the 60,000 sq ft, three-storey store "reinvents the traditional department store" format, merging sports, premium fashion, lifestyle and beauty under one roof - and creating over 80 new jobs in the process.
Victoria’s Secret opened a 5,712 sq ft store at Derbion Shopping Centre in the East Midlands, after signing a 10-year lease. The new store features the brand’s full product line across lingerie, sleepwear, swimwear and its fragrance collection. Customers can also shop Victoria’s Secret’s popular sister line, PINK, and benefit from complimentary fittings with expert in-store bra fit specialists.
Ahead of the sold-out Oasis Live '25 world tour, the first of a planned series of fan stores has opened in the band's home city of Manchester today, offering a range of apparel and merch, including exclusive brand collaborations and limited editions.
One year after opening its first store in London, Samantha Cameron’s womenswear brand, Cefinn, has launched its second - a flagship on the King’s Road. Last year, the brand, which was founded in 2017, made its first move into retail with a store on Elizabeth Street, Fitzrovia.
Californian quiet luxury brand Vince has opened a two-storey 2,300 sq ft flagship store at 87 Marylebone High Street in London. It marks Vince’s 44th store worldwide, and its second outpost in London – its first being a 1,400 sq ft boutique on Chelsea’s Draycott Avenue, which opened its doors in 2019.
In one of the most anticipated creative shake-ups in fashion, Dior handed its entire design empire to Jonathan Anderson, marking a bold new chapter for the storied Parisian house. Anderson, renowned for his innovative designs at Loewe and his eponymous label JW Anderson, was appointed as the brand's eighth couturier, overseeing all women's, men's and haute couture collections.
Harrods appointed Geoff Weaver as its new Chief Financial Officer. The move signals a continued focus on strategic investment and digital evolution for the luxury retail giant. Weaver brings over 20 years of financial leadership experience to the role, having most recently served as Finance Director for TUI Markets & Airlines at TUI Group, where he has held a number of senior finance roles since 2011.
Net-a-Porter announced key new appointments to its leadership team, following the luxury fashion destination’s acquisition by Mytheresa in April 2025, and the formation of the new LuxExperience group. Heather Kaminetsky comes in as the new CEO of Net-a-Porter, responsible for defining and driving a re-energised customer proposition.
British luxury department store Liberty appointed Beverley Devonish as the new Store Director of its historic Regent Street flagship. With over two decades of experience in luxury fashion and experiential retail, she joins the retailer at a "pivotal" moment in its 150-year journey.
The British Fashion Council (BFC) has appointed Karen Blackett to its board of directors, succeeding outgoing BFC executive board member, June Sarpong. Blackett has held senior positions at leading marketing agencies and has "extensive expertise in government engagement", having served as a Department for International Trade business ambassador for 10 Downing Street, as a non-executive board member for The Cabinet office, and as the Prime Minister’s Race Equality Business Champion.
John Lewis appointed former Marks & Spencer Marketing Director Anna Braithwaite as its new Chief Customer Officer. Braithwaite confirmed the move to TheIndustry.fashion following her departure from M&S at the end of May, after four years in the role.
ASOS appointed Aaron Izzard as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Executive Director, succeeding Dave Murray, who is stepping down "to pursue other opportunities". Izzard was most recently Director of Group Finance at ASOS and brings more than two decades of experience in senior finance roles across the retail and e-commerce industry. He will begin his new role on 1 July 2025.
Oakley named Travis Scott Chief Visionary in multi-year partnership
American eyewear brand Oakley appointed global superstar Travis Scott as its first-ever Chief Visionary. The multi-year partnership will shape the brand's future fashion and eyewear offerings. Known for its high-performance sportswear, Oakley has its sights set on cultivating relevance among younger, fashion-forward consumers: Queue Travis Scott's audience.
