In his speech, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that India’s criminal justice system is entering a new phase. He highlighted the crucial role of robust forensic institutions in building a secure, transparent, and evidence-based framework
He further noted that the Central government had established the first National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in 2020, well before the three new criminal laws — Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) — came into effect
In his address after the inauguration, Shah also said that support has been extended to every state to establish a forensic van in every district, and even many states have expanded their forensic laboratories
The National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) was established in 2020. So far, 16 institutions have been approved, with eight already operational and the remaining eight in progress
The creation of trained human resources has been completed, with the Union Minister expressing confidence that the new students will make significant contributions to strengthening law and order in the country
