IMD issues yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning in 25 dists
Patna: Thunderstorm and lightning are likely to occur in 25 districts of the state on Wednesday, according to a yellow alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.
Patna is among the districts included in the alert.Other affected districts are Supaul, Araria, Purnia, Katihar, Madhepura, Saharsa, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Munger, Jamui and Banka. In addition, a separate alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for West Champaran and Kishanganj.On Wednesday, most districts experienced moderate to heavy rainfall.
Madhubani recorded the highest at 29mm, followed by Kishanganj (9mm), Pusa in Samastipur (6mm), Vaishali (5.5mm), Muzaffarpur (5mm), Dehri in Rohtas (5.6mm), Darbhanga (4.1mm), Khagaria and Samastipur (3mm each), Buxar (2mm), Chhapra (1.6mm) and both Aurangabad and Motihari (1mm each). Light rain was also recorded in Patna, Sheikhpura, Bhagalpur and Valmiki Nagar.
Scattered rainfall is expected across southern Bihar on Wednesday while northern districts may receive isolated showers.
According to the IMD bulletin, the maximum temperature is likely to rise by 2-3°C over the next four days, while no major change is expected in the minimum temperature over the next five days.On Tuesday, the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded in Bhojpur at 36.8°C while the lowest minimum was 23.3°C in Aurangabad. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 32-34°C across most regions, except in southwestern districts, which may vary slightly.
