President William Ruto appointed the nine-member panel to conduct the recruitment of the commissioners in readiness for the 2027 general election.

The team is under the stewardship of Nelson Makanda as the chairperson and Lindah Kiome as the vice chairperson.

They revealed receiving upward of 330 applications to the commissioners' slots advertised to the public.

"We have received 339 applications for the seven positions advertised, including that of the IEBC chairperson. The panel will deliver on its mandate of giving Kenyans the chairperson and members of the IEBC by April 25. The names of applicants and the interview schedule of candidates will be published in the print media, the Kenya Gazette and the Parliamentary Service Commission Website," he said.
