I'm not interested in AMVCA - Ibrahim Chatta - Daily Trust

Veteran Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has revealed why he’s never been nominated for the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Speaking on the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast, the 54-year-old said he simply never submitted any of his works.

“I am not interested,” he said. “You don’t lose what you never had.”

Chatta noted that his absence from nominations or even invitations may be due to his low social profile. “Maybe they think, if we invite him, he won’t come,” he said.

While others see the AMVCA as a big achievement, Chatta said he’s fulfilled with his other recognitions, like the Nelson Mandela Award, the Pink Award, and an honour from 41 million northern youths. He added, “We have awards, but we don’t post them.”

According to him, when he’s ready for AMVCA, he’ll submit a film.
