,Jaren Barajas cashed in $100,000 dollars after beating Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard in a 3-point shooting contest. The 18 year old college student has chosen academics over a future in basketball and is currently focusing on completing his education. He made the final shot with the clock winding down, but successfully hit the basket from way back.
Interestingly, the teen had been hoping to attend the NBA's for a while but only got the tickets a day prior. He attended the game with his father, Michael who was searching up tickets for the game and finally found something that was viable. The duo arrived early to the match from the East Bay suburb of Oakley. This is when Jaren was asked if he would like to participate in the

for $100,000. They were extremely elated and looking forward to this opportunity, not knowing that they would be walking home with $100,000, after a victory against Damian Lillard.
Post the victory against the Milwaukee Bucks star, his father Michael became emotional at his son's iconic victory. Commenting on the win, Barajas shared, “This is going to mean the world to me, it’s going to help my family a lot and definitely my future,” he said. “Hopefully it’ll help me pay for my education, which it will.” He also added that, “It was coming down to the wire, we had 30 seconds left and my dad always tells me to use the backboard,” Barajas said. “That’s what I had to do to make it go in.”
Commenting on how it was sheer luck that he attended the show, he shared, “I got surprised with these tickets yesterday, so I didn’t even know I was coming to the game, so to have this experience it’s so surreal,” Barajas said. “I’m so thankful.”
His father, Michael Barajas also made a statement about how he was extremely proud of his son. He shared, “He wanted to go to the game, prices were pretty high so I kept watching the prices come down and once I found them where I could afford them, I bought them and surprised him with them yesterday. I can’t believe we’re right here, but I’m glad I did it. He deserves it and I’m proud of him.”
Post his victory, Former Warriors star Baron Davis also congratulated Jared. He shared, “Oh, man, that was amazing, clutch performance at the buzzer, Steph Curry-style. In the Bay Area. Give this man his money.” Additionally, many from the audience rushed to Jared, cheering him on and requesting for pictures.

Beaming with pride, Michael Barajas shared, “It was all luck, meant to be, I don’t know. I can’t believe it.”
In addition to the $100,000, the NBA also said that they would donate $50,000 to Lillard's scholarship fund that would benefit nine high schools from East Bay. Additionally they also pledged $50,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland and San Francisco.
