Honor Magic V5: Global hands-on videos, performance tests and comparisons with Oppo Find N5 and Magic V3 - NotebookCheck.net News
The Honor Magic V5, launched in China on July 2, 2025, is the biggest competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7. Advertised as the world's thinnest foldable, the Magic V5 will launch in Hong Kong next month, and a European launch is also likely not far off. Even if we personally don't find all the buzz surrounding the record-breaking thickness measurements of a particular color variant of the Magic V5 particularly noteworthy, this generation of Honor foldables features a host of other useful improvements, such as dust protection and camera hardware.
We've selected three of the already available hands-on videos from international YouTubers. While none are fully-fledged reviews, they at least offer first impressions of the quality and hardware features. Ben's Gadget Reviews goes into a little more detail about the software, for example, regarding the improvements in multitasking. Tech Chap compares the Honor Magic V5 in several areas with its predecessor. While the video from Tech Tablets offers the least new information if you've already seen the other two, it does show the white model of the Magic V5, which, at 8.8 mm thick, is the one color variant that currently bears the title of the world's thinnest foldable.
In terms of performance, users can expect a lot from the Magic V5, as it features the same 8-core Snapdragon 8 Elite processor found in traditional smartphones, unlike the Oppo Find N5, which has to make do with a 7-core chip. Nevertheless, the results on Geekbench are still very inconsistent so far, ranging from a measly 800 points in single-core to a respectable 3,023 points (see screenshot below). The Oppo Find N5 acheived an average of 2,888 points in our tests, and in the multi-core test, the Honor Magic V5 outperforms its Oppo counterpart by an average of 8,890 points.
Chinese X user @feni_book also contributes a few comparison images with the Oppo foldable, which is almost the same thickness. The difference, especially from the side, is primarily in the thickness of the camera hump. He claims, however, that the crease in the center of the flexible AMOLED display is more pronounced on the Honor foldable than on the Oppo, and it's also the only foldable with variations in the curvature of the display corners on the left and right sides of the cover display.
