Himachal Pradesh cloudburst: These flash flood videos from Dharamshala will terrify you; nature’s fury unleashed

NEW DELHI: Terrifying visuals have emerged from Rakkar in Dharamshala and other higher reaches where a flashflood triggered by a multiple cloudbursts created havoc in the region. The videos emerged a day after at least 15-20 workers were swept away near the Indira Priyadarshini Hydroelectric Project in Khaniyara village in Kangra district. A horrifying video, filmed near the Nature Pool café, captures the sheer ferocity of the water gushing through the valley, destroying everything in its path.

The video shows raging waters surging down the Manuni Khad, turning a once-tranquil mountain stream into a deadly torrent. According to officials, two bodies have been recovered so far, while many remain missing. Rescue operations are underway, but the steep terrain and high water levels have made access extremely challenging.

Dharamshala MLA Sudhir Sharma, who visited the scene, confirmed the devastation, saying, “I got a call late Wednesday that a cloudburst had occurred and 15-20 people were feared swept away. The site is very close to my village.

We are coordinating with the administration and rescue teams are on the ground.”The viral video, which has now being circulated widely on social media, has left viewers stunned. The sheer force and speed of the flash flood — hurtling through forested terrain, engulfing structures, and sending debris flying is terrifying.(With agency inputs)
