YouTuber Maximilian Dood is well known for his love of fighting games – specifically the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise. You may recall he absolutely lost his mind when Capcom announced its PS4 compilation about a year ago, and he’s even self-funded a graphical patch for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, which was a notoriously ugly title at launch.

Well, considering absolutely no one on the planet was expecting PS XDev, Marvel Games, and Arc System Works to team up on a new fighter, you can imagine how his latest livestream went.

We will say, there’s some strong language in the video, although it has been censored slightly. Still, this deserves sharing nonetheless:

Sony has been making major plays in the fighting game community for years now. It’s a co-owner of the EVO championships and has aligned itself with every major fighting franchise, including Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and Mortal Kombat 1.

But this announcement, that it’s publishing a wholly original fighting game with fresh Marvel character designs from the ever-reliable ArcSys, is enormous news. It feels like the culmination of everything PlayStation has been working towards.
