The mother of Augusta Onuwabhagbe, the 21-year-old model allegedly murdered by celebrity gambler Benjamin Nnayereugo, popularly known as Killaboi, has spoken out in an emotional tribute marking 22 months since her daughter’s death.

In a post on her on Tuesday, the grieving mother shared a photo of Augusta, writing, “22 months today Benjamin killed you. You’re still fighting because you said that if anyone kills you, you’ll kill your own back. He must join you my baby.”

Her words come just weeks after Killaboi was extradited from Qatar to Nigeria to face prosecution for the murder.

Augusta, a first-class student of Lead City University, was allegedly killed by Killaboi at his residence in Ajah, Lagos, in July 2023.

He fled the country shortly afterward and later posted an apparent online confession.

After being declared wanted by the Lagos State Police in October 2023, the fugitive led authorities on a months-long chase across continents, using fake names and forged documents.

He was first arrested in Sierra Leone in October 2023 under the alias Kanu Samuel, but escaped during a prison break the following month.

Eventually tracked to Doha, Qatar, in early 2025, he was living under the false identity of Toure Abdoulaye with a forged Guinean passport.

He was arrested in February following biometric verification by INTERPOL and extradited to Nigeria in April.

His extradition was the result of collaboration between the Nigerian Police Force, Interpol, the Federal Ministry of Justice and Qatari authorities.

Upon his arrival in Nigeria, the police reaffirmed their commitment to diligent prosecution.

The inspector general of police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the international efforts that led to the suspect’s capture, vowing that justice would be served.
