Hailstorm damages crops in Sirsa | Chandigarh News - The Times of India
Hisar: A severe hailstorm, accompanied by rain, lashed several villages in Haryana's Sirsa district on Friday night, causing significant damage to wheat and mustard crops, the worst in Dabwali, Rania, and Odhan.
Local farmers Govind, Jasvir Singh, Sitaram, Bhimsen, Naresh Kumar, Mahender Singh, and Sunil Kumar said while cloudy skies had hinted at possible rainfall, they had not anticipated a hailstorm. "It rained heavily at night, and in some villages, there were just hailstones," said one of them.
The worst-affected villages include Kharia, Bhuna, Panniwala Mota, Khai Shergarh, Chakkan, Sahuwala, Rori, Jhordarohi, Khyowali, Matdadu, Matuwala, and Bacher. The agriculture department is doing damage assessment for a report. Farmers can report their losses on the department's online portal for assistance.
