The model and Rhode founder, who has been teasing her “Lemontini” lip gloss collection for a few weeks now, at last dropped her new Peptide Lip Tint iteration this week, described as a “shimmery, sheer gold gloss that smells like a sweet, citrusy lemon cocktail”. The product and its associated merch is all in a bright yellow – far zingier than the almost neutral butter yellow shade that has become ubiquitous in recent months.

Bieber, who has a knack for starting social media-friendly trends (see also: glazed doughnut skin/nails and strawberry girl summer), joked about the internet discourse prompted by her “controversial” shade choice on Instagram. “It’s not butter yellow because it’s lemon. Not butter. And butter yellow is played out.. Respectfully.”

So can we expect to see brighter shades of yellow on fashion and beauty moodboards going forward? It wouldn’t be the first time Bieber’s lighthearted posts influenced consumer behaviour – just look at her $20 Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie collaboration with luxury grocer Erewhon, or Cosmic Bliss Ice Cream.

Rumours are currently swirling that Bieber could be adding a beverages arm to her successful Rhode brand – which was acquired by e.l.f cosmetics in May of this year. If it tastes as good as the Lemontini lip gloss looks, then you might just have to sign us up for a crate or two.
