Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced a planned interruption in water supply to several parts of north-eastern Accra on Friday, July 4, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

In a statement issued today, July 3, the utility company explained that the temporary shutdown is necessary to carry out mergency repair works at the Kpong Treatment Plant, a critical facility that supplies water to many parts of the capital.

“The Management of Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL) wishes to inform its cherished customers living in and around the north-eastern part of Accra and the public that water supply would be interrupted from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, 4th July 2025, due to emergency repair works to be undertaken at the Kpong Treatment Plant,” the statement read.

Communities expected to be affected include parts of Dodowa, Oyarifa, Madina, Adenta, Ashaley Botwe, East Legon, Abokobi, Haatso, Agbogba, Ashongman, and surrounding areas.

GWL has urged residents in the affected locations to store adequate quantities of water ahead of the shutdown in order to minimise inconvenience.

“Management is, therefore, entreating customers in the above-stated areas to store enough water before the shutdown,” the statement advised.

The company also encouraged essential service providers and institutions requiring assistance during the period to reach out through its dedicated communication channels:

GWL assured the public that the water supply will resume immediately once the repair works are completed.

“Management also assures customers that water supply will resume as soon as the works are completed. The inconvenience this may cause is deeply regretted,” the statement concluded.
