GTA 6 Trailer 2 Breaks Records

Grand Theft Auto 6's Trailer 2 has achieved the distinction of being the biggest and fastest-growing video launch in internet history, according to Rockstar Games. The trailer garnered over 475 million views across all platforms within 24 hours, nearly doubling the lifetime YouTube view count of GTA 6 Trailer 1. This immense excitement is expected to translate into significant commercial success when the game launches on May 26, 2026.

The unexpected release of the second trailer on May 6, 2025, broke records not only in video games but also across all media on the internet. In comparison, GTA 6 Trailer 1, released in December 2023, received 93 million views on YouTube within its first 24 hours, becoming the most-watched video game reveal trailer of all time. Despite the initial hype, Rockstar Games remained silent throughout 2024 until announcing a delay on May 2, pushing the launch from Fall 2025 to May 26, 2026.

The delay announcement was met with disappointment, but Rockstar Games compensated fans by releasing Trailer 2, along with screenshots and story details. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the trailer accumulated over 475 million views in its first 24 hours across platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Twitter. This figure was confirmed by Rockstar Games, solidifying its credibility.

GTA 6 Trailer 2's viewership has since surpassed 500 million. To provide context, the trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine garnered 365 million views in its first 24 hours, while GTA 6 Trailer 1 currently has around 255 million views on YouTube. The engagement on Trailer 2 suggests unprecedented anticipation for GTA 6, setting the stage for massive commercial success upon its release.

The trailer offered a near-three-minute glimpse into the game's world, highlighting protagonist Jason Duval, his relationship with Lucia Caminos, key side characters, and impressive graphical fidelity. Rockstar confirmed that Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game on a PS5, comprising both gameplay and cutscenes.

Beyond the viewership records, the music featured in the trailer, The Pointer Sisters’ "Hot Together," experienced a substantial boost, with a 182,000% increase in Spotify streams. Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch on May 26, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
