The Nigeria Patriotic Front Movement (NPFM) has announced plans for a nationwide protest slated for August 1, 2025, citing widespread hardship, economic decline, and what it terms the rule of “Bandit Capitalists” under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Under the theme “No Food. No Jobs. No Future,” the movement says it will mobilise citizens across major cities to demand an end to bad governance, corruption, and policies it claims have plunged millions into poverty.

A flyer circulated by the group carries the bold slogan, “WE DON TAYA TO CARRY SHIT,” a Pidgin English expression capturing Nigerians’ exhaustion and frustration with economic hardship and alleged government failures.

“We rise on August 1st, 2025 not just for us, but for every Nigerian suffering in silence,” the flyer reads.

NPFM’s key demands include: An end to bad governance and corruption; protection of Nigeria’s future for the younger generation; and empowerment of citizens to speak up without fear.

NPFM, which identifies itself as a grassroots coalition of activists, professionals, and concerned citizens, insists the current economic situation has become unbearable, citing rising food prices, unemployment, and insecurity.

The protest is being organised under the hashtag #EndBadGovernance, echoing previous social movements in Nigeria that have demanded systemic reforms.

Protests in August 2024 erupted in multiple cities across Nigeria as frustrated citizens took to the streets, voicing their anger over increasing hunger and “bad governance.”

The demonstrations spiralled out of control in parts of the country, including the northern Yobe and Kano states, where authorities declared a 24-hour curfew as private and public properties were looted in chaotic scenes that also saw many vehicles burned.
