Govt renews Bawku curfew
The curfew started from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am effective Monday, January 27, 2025.
This was contained in a press release issued by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mrs Doreen P Annan, on Monday Janury 27.
Government calls on Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.
Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the afore-mentioned communities and their environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
President John Dramani Mahama recently visited Bawku and Nalerigu on, Tuesday, 14th January 2025 as part of his determination to resolve the decades-old conflict in Bawku.
He also used the visit to engage the conflict factions and key stakeholders to promote dialogue to achieve lasting peace.
