The Public Service Commission (PSC) has issued a notice to 205 who failed the proficiency examination for clerical officers held in September 2024.

In the Kenya Gazette issue of March 7, the commission outlined the subjects each of the 205 clerical officers, already working for the public service, had failed and directed that they were expected to resit the listed subjects.

"The following two hundred and five (205) candidates did not pass the Proficiency Examination for Clerical Officers held from  September 23 to 26, 2024. They are expected to resit the subject(s) indicated against their names," part of the statement read.

Although the subjects varied among the candidates, the most prominent elective subject which recorded the most failures was Human Resource Services across several ministries.

Other failed subjects included; communication skills, supply services, records management, and accounts. 

The candidates were all drawn from different government ministries and state departments, dominated by the Interior and National Administration Ministry. 

Public Service, Defence, Education, National Treasury, and East Africa Community and Regional Development ministries, among others, also had candidates who failed the exam.

Among those who failed were also candidates from the county governments of Nakuru, Taita Taveta and Turkana.

Besides the 205, one male candidate from the Ministry of Interior and National Administration had his results canceled for exam irregularities.

"The following one (1) candidate was involved in an examination irregularity and his results have been canceled," the statement declared.

However, all was not lost as a whopping 673 clerical officers passed the examination, with their names outlined in the same notice alongside their elective subjects.

"It is notified for general information that the following Six Hundred and Seventy Three (673) Candidates passed the Proficiency Examination For Clerical Officers' Held from 23rd to 26th September 2024. The Elective Subject is indicated against their name," the statement read.
