In a landmark move to boost infrastructure and economic development in Adamawa State, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has officially flagged off the construction of the Adamawa International Conference and Events Center. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the State Secretariat Complex in Yola.
Speaking at the event, His Excellency Governor Fintiri described the project as a strategic and forward-thinking investment designed to reposition the state as a hub for business, tourism, and socio-economic growth.
“Most interesting and heart-warming is the economic and commercial value this project will attract to the state. With the calibre of conferences, political meetings, workshops, graduation ceremonies, and award events expected to be hosted here, only the short-sighted will fail to see the long-term impact on our economy. This is in addition to other socio-economic benefits that will soon become evident.”
The Governor emphasized the state government’s commitment to building resilient infrastructure that drives inclusive development. He noted that the Centre’s proximity to Yola International Airport will significantly enhance its accessibility, making Adamawa a preferred destination for high-profile local and international events.
“This Centre will transform Adamawa into a commercial hub and spark development in nearby towns and villages—through the construction of new roads, the establishment of retail outlets, and the growth of support services. It will also generate employment opportunities, as a dedicated team will be needed to operate and maintain the facility. The multiplier effect on our economy will be both visible and sustainable.”
Governor Fintiri further stated that the initiative aligns with his administration’s broader vision of modernizing public infrastructure, attracting private sector investment, and creating a vibrant service economy in the state.
The Adamawa International Conference and Events Center is designed to be more than a meeting venue—it is a world-class, multifunctional facility aimed at catalyzing economic transformation.
