Xiaomi phones could soon come with a free Gemini Advanced offer.

According to a new report, Google is extending its free cloud storage and Gemini Advanced offer to Xiaomi phones.

Android Authority found code in the Google app (version16.7.21.sa.arm64) that referenced "Xiaomi" alongside other models that currently offer some form of a Google One Premium trial, which includes Gemini Advanced.

"Samsung”, “Pixel” and “Moto” are all mentioned along with Xiaomi. Although the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is not specifically mentioned, the phone’s potential launch next week suggests it will come a bundled Google One subscription.

Google’s Gemini Advanced offer is not one size fits all. Naturally, Google users are given the best promotion, with Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro owners receiving a 12-month free trial of the AI Premium plan, which is worth $240 per year. This includes Gemini Advanced, 2TB of Google Cloud storage, Nest Aware (U.K. only), and Fitbit Premium (U.K. only). How long your Google One AI Premium plan free trial lasts depends on what smartphone brand you buy.

I imagine Xiaomi buyers will get between three and six months of Google One AI Premium, with Google reserving the longest free trials for its own hardware. The logic with these staggered options is that if a consumer isn’t going to buy a Pixel, then the next best thing for Google is to make them acquainted with the company’s software suite.

There is a clear arms race between the three major smartphone manufacturers to spread their respective mobile AI systems as far and wide as possible. Google has moved swiftly to spread Gemini by integrating it with several device brands, or heavily discounting Google One AI Premium for Verizon customers.

That is alongside extending the abilities of commonly used apps such as Circle to Search, which can now identify music, translate text and scan QR codes alongside conducting image searches. Crucially, Circle to Search can run on virtually any device because of its low processing power requirements.

Rumors also suggest that Google Gemini could be integrated into Siri after toppling Bixby on the Galaxy S25. Adding Xiaomi to the mix only extends its dominance. Although, the largest userbase of Xiaomi users won’t touch Google’s AI tech because Google Play Services is restricted in China.
