GNFS apology: What exactly is the crime of the Fire Service PR officer? - Braimah asks
On Tuesday, March 26, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) issued a formal apology to the Ashanti Regional Minister over comments made by a member of its Public Relations Team, AD01 Alex King Nartey.
A statement issued by Acting Chief Fire Officer Daniella M. Ntow Sapong, the GNFS said the remarks as “uncomplimentary” and expressed deep regret for the incident. The service extended an “unreserved and sincere” apology to the Minister and the Chief of REGSEC in the Ashanti Region.
The statement acknowledged the efforts of the regional authorities in managing the fire outbreak and reiterated the GNFS’s commitment to fire prevention and response.
It further assured that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken against the officer responsible to prevent similar incidents in the future.
“We appreciate your contribution, sacrifices, and untiring efforts that contributed to the Operational Response and Management of this unfortunate Fire Incident,” the statement read.
In a post on his X page, Sulemana Braimah said “What exactly was/is the crime of the Fire Service PR officer. That he was critical of the regional minister’s outbursts?”
