Ghana Scrabble Association announces formation of LOC for WESPAC 2025

The prestigious event is set to take place in Accra, Ghana, from Wednesday, November 12 to Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Alisa Hotel.

Following a successful bid to host the international tournament, SCAG has assembled a skilled and experienced team to ensure the smooth execution of the championship. 

The LOC is led by Chairperson Reginald D. Laryea, with S.M. Quartey serving as Vice-Chairperson. Other members include SCAG President Haruna Adamu, Farida A. Iddriss, Joojo Otsiabah and Adekoyejo Adegbesan, the President of the Pan-African Scrabble Association.

A statement signed by SCAG President, Haruna Adamu, emphasised the commitment of the LOC, a team of professionals dedicated to delivering a successful and memorable event. 

The committee will oversee the management of several sub-committees, including those focused on transport, welfare, visas and more, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants and guests.

"We are thrilled to have assembled a team of dedicated and experienced individuals to help us deliver a world-class tournament," the statement read.

"We look forward to hosting the global Scrabble community in Ghana and showcasing our country's hospitality and rich cultural heritage," it added.

WESPAC 2025 is anticipated to bring together elite Scrabble players from across the globe, all converging onthe Alisa Hotel—the same venue that recently hosted Scrabble events during the 13th African Games in Ghana.

SCAG, the governing body for Scrabble in Ghana, is proudly affiliated with the World English-Language Scrabble Players’ Association (WESPA).
