Ghana's smart energy regime enabler for Huawei, others to thrive - EC
Patrick Ofoe Nudzi
Accra, July 1, GNA – The Energy Commission (EC) says it will continue to create an enabling environment for businesses including producers of smart energy solutions to thrive.
The Commission said companies, including Huawei and others, whose advanced technologies and smart energy solutions were contributing immensely to Ghana’s transition to green energy would flourish per the standards and codes of practices put in place.
Speaking at the Huawei Ghana Partner Summit and C&I Innovative Product Launch, Mr Julius Nkansah Nyarko, Senior Manager, Renewable Energy Regulations, Energy Commission, said in as much as the entities within sector had been positioned to thrive, the standards would also protect consumers.
He said the Commission had been working with the energy industry players to ensure that Ghana achieved its 10 per cent renewable energy penetration target by 2030.
Mr Nkansah Nyarko commended Huawei for their new
product, LUNA2000-215 Series, the world’s first C&I Smart Hybrid Cooling Battery (215 kWh) which had enough capacity to power small and medium scale businesses, food and beverage making entities and sachet water producing companies, amongst others.
The commercial and industrial (C&I) solar battery has been built on a robust safety architecture with a unique hybrid cooling system where its Round Trip Efficiency (RTE) is 91.3 per cent.
It also has a higher State of Health (SOH) and a 2 per cent unique heat dissipation than others on the market and its smart optimisation operation and maintenance energy systems (O&M) give 10 per cent higher profitability.
Mr Sampson Zickson, Senior Business Development Manager, Huawei Digital Power, West Africa, said the Huawei Smart Battery Solution would provide high quality power supply to C&I consumers without any transformer.
“It is innovative, durable and reliable and the era where C&I companies say solar cannot power their machines has passed,” he said.
He said now Huawei had solar powering steel manufacturing companies. Solar equipment and battery solutions are cost effective and they target everybody.
Mr Zickson said: “Now solar and battery solutions are on grid
parity – this means it is the same as the cost of ECG for power. It is also available to the consumer as compared to power from ECG that could be intermittent.”
He said the battery solution, the LUNA200-215 Series had the highest RTE in the industry, better temperature control where it would use both air and liquid interchangeably, adding that its lifespan was longer than any of similar products on the market.
The summit and launch was attended by players in the energy transition and smart energy solutions industry including government officials and some foreign investors.
