Roger Barnor And Ghana Boxing Authority Board Holds First Meeting

According to official GBA communications, the session aimed to unify stakeholders before engaging state sports regulators.

A majority of board members attended alongside representatives from GBA’s operational groupings. Newly designated Public Relations Officer Andy Nortey of the Ghanaian Times – replacing former PRO Amin Lamptey – participated in the discussions. Barnor confirmed a forthcoming meeting with the NSA to establish a roadmap for the GBA’s Elective Congress, emphasizing the need for “clearance and collaboration” with regulatory bodies.

The board provisionally scheduled an Extraordinary Congress for July 19, 2025, to finalize plans for the Elective Congress. Throughout deliberations, members reiterated calls for “unity and peace” within Ghana’s boxing community. Barnor stated: “It is our prayer that the breeze of goodwill spreads among stakeholders to advance the GBA’s objectives.”

The meeting occurs amid broader sports governance reforms under the National Democratic Congress administration, though the GBA’s engagement remains focused on internal restructuring.
