Ganduje family praises Emir Sanusi II over son's turbaning as village head
The extended family of National Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has applauded the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, for installing their son, Alhaji Jamilu Sani Umar Ganduje, as the new village head.
The shower of appreciation came on Tuesday at the Kofar Kudu Palace during the turbaning (traditional title installation) ceremony of Alhaji Jamilu Ganduje, which attracted an overwhelming presence of the ex-Governor’s family.
The new village head of Ganduje, a first nephew of the APC National Chairman, was considered for the highest traditional title in Ganduje village by the 16th Emir, Khalifa Sanusi, after the removal of the former village head, Alhaji Sani Ganduje.
Against all odds, it was gathered that Emir Sanusi II had chosen to jettison any bad blood against the ex-Governor’s immediate family in the nomination of the new village head.
Shortly after his turbaning, the new village head, Alh. Jamilu Ganduje, bowed before Khalifa Sanusi in traditional allegiance, while pledging to remain loyal and committed to serving his community through the emirate.
Alh. Jamilu commended the Emir of Kano for finding him worthy in character and knowledge to occupy the prestigious position, while seeking divine guidance and blessings for the reign of the 16th Emir.
Although the APC National Chairman was conspicuously not available at the palace during the turbaning ceremony, The Guardian learnt Ganduje had facilitated the large turnout of the entire delegation from Ganduje to physically witness the installation of their son.
Earlier, Khalifa Sanusi cautioned the new village head to remain a worthy ambassador of the Kano emirate, urging him to dispense traditional authority with the fear of God and humanity.
Sanusi called on the village head to consider his appointment as a privilege to serve with honesty, trust, and faithfulness, reminding him that all actions shall be accounted for on the Day of Reconciliation.
