Fubara, Wike, Amaewhule Put Aside Differences, Attend Public Event Together
The suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and suspened Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martin Chike Amaewhule, have put aside their two-year political differences to attend a public event together.
The trio was spotted at the burial ceremony of Wike’s uncle, Late Elder Temple Omezuruike Onuoha, at Rumuepirikom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The rare public appearance comes days after President Bola Tinubu brokered a reconciliation meeting between Fubara and Wike, indicating a potential shift in their tumultuous relationship.
After the meeting, Wike mentioned that they had all agreed to work together, describing the agreement as “conclusive”.
The power tussle between Fubara and Wike began shortly after Fubara assumed office in May 2023.
Despite a peace deal brokered by President Tinubu in December 2023, the truce broke down, reigniting the conflict.
President Tinubu’s recent intervention has seemingly brought about a change in dynamics, with Fubara, Wike, and Amaewhule attending the burial ceremony together.
This development marks a significant step towards healing the rift between the two political leaders.
However, during the burial ceremony, Amaewhule led members of the Tenth Rivers State House of Assembly in paying their final respects to the deceased.
He described Elder Onuoha as a man of integrity with unwavering commitment to family values, urging the family to take solace in the impactful life he lived and the legacy of peace and love he bequeathed.
