Four Nigerian creatives shine at the amplify Bootcamp Live Showcase
As part of efforts to project Nigerian creatives on the world’s biggest stages, this year’s edition of The Amplify Bootcamp Live Showcase, presented four young stars, who are set to make their mark in the industry.
Powered by the French embassy in Nigeria in partnership with CIIFA, the showcase finale, which held at Alliance Française de Lagos, was the result of different bootcamps that held in both Lagos and Abuja over the last few months.
The grand finale featured four Nigerian emerging artists, Ife and Esoterica from Lagos and Mannie Tseayo and Salako from Abuja. After an open call that received over 200 applications, a jury, made up of Made Kuti, Blessing Azubike, Godwin Tom, Margaux Demeerssemen and Adeola Akinyemi, selected 32 artists and managers based on their musicality, experience and motivation. They then followed this selection up with a five-day bootcamp, in partnership with CChub, learning various skills such as storytelling and pitching, legal aspects of the industry, artistic communication and the use of social networks, as well as concepts such as artistic identity and career planning, among others.
The jury met a second time, and chose these four artists and their managers among them, based on their deliverables. They then participated in a five-day Live Performance Training in partnership with CIIFA. They were trained on topics such as stage design, media etiquette, vocal techniques, establishing a technical rider and live contracts; alongside industry experts such as Foza, Major Bangz, Ice Nweke, Osafile Oladotun, Shimmer Goddess, Dr. Bukky George Taylor and had numerous talks with Godwin Tom.
They also had the privilege of being stage coached by Made Kuti, and then got to perform a live showcase at Alliance Française de Lagos, attended by key industry players.
The Amplify Bootcamp is part of the wider Création Africa fund, an initiative of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs designed to support and encourage African creation, artists and cultural industries through various programs implemented by the French Embassy in Nigeria.
