:::I don't think that works. Marrone has done quality work both in and out of video games, but that doesn't mean that the ships portrayed by ''Star Trek Online'' reflect the productions used as sources for hero images of ships on this wiki. Ships in ''Star Trek Online'' necessarily differ from the ships portrayed in movies or on TV, as turning a kitbash created for TV background into a fully-modeled ship, visible on all sides, requires creative liberties to complete what isn't shown on TV (and might never have been ready for primetime.) That makes those ships solely representations of ''Star Trek Online'', the same as ships invented entirely for that game, and ''Star Trek Online'' isn't a proper source on this wiki for anything but itself. As has already been pointed out, this class of images might be found somewhere other than a hero image. + | ::::As much as I love STO, I agree with Newhon - the ships in the game are a whole separate entity. Also, more often than not, far fewer polygons. The Enterprise-F, for example, in STO is in the 10s of thousands whereas, when made for screen, it became millions of polys. --[[User:WTRiker|WTRiker]] ([[User talk:WTRiker|talk]]) 06:46, 13 June 2025 (UTC) |
Looking to see if anyone has thought of allowing STO graphics as a means to produce new hero images for starship and class pages that have otherwise low or poor quality hero images? For example, the TNG BoBW kitbashes like the Cheyenne-class, or Jein-class. Thomas Marrone has done a wonderful job making hero graphics that Dave Blass used for Picard Season 3, which I thought would be wonderful to use here to give these articles a much needed facelift. - my only reservation is needing to make sure it has the right customization options.Marhawkman (talk) 00:56, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
