Former MTSU safety Reed Blankenship in Super Bowl 59 with Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Middle Tennessee State's all-time leading tackler is set to play on football's biggest stage next month.

Reed Blankenship, a former star safety at MTSU, has reached Super Bowl 59 with the Philadelphia Eagles in his third season with the team. In the NFC Championship game against the Washington Commanders, Blankenship recorded seven tackles and a fumble recovery.

Blankenship was signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft and was named a starter ahead of the 2023 season.

In his second season as a starting safety, Blankenship has had 78 tackles in 15 games, along with six pass breakups, four interceptions and a fumble recovery.

In three seasons with the Eagles, Blankenship has 225 tackles, 19 pass breakups, eight interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Blankenship wrapped up his Blue Raiders career as the program's all-time leader in tackles, with 419 in his five years with MTSU.

In his final season Blankenship led the team with 110 tackles, a career-high 10 tackles for loss, nine pass breakups, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.

Super Bowl 59 will be played on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025.

Super Bowl 59 is slated to kick off at 5:30 p.m. (CT).

Super Bowl 59 is being held at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
