They paid tribute at the home of former Maseno School Principal Paul Agali Otula in Homa Bay county.

The renowned educationist was laid to rest in his home village following his untimely death on Thursday, May 1.

Otula suffered a cardiac arrest before collapsing and passing away at his residence on that fateful day.

"Today, a section of former Maseno School teachers visited the late Chief Principal Paul Agali Otula, HSC, OGW's family one week after the burial. Mwalimu is resting in peace, and the family is thankful to everyone for their support," read a caption from a Facebook post.

A video was shared online capturing the sombre moment when the teachers gathered around the grave of the great educationist.

The grave was adorned with flowers around its boundary, beautifying the gravesite days after the principal’s burial.

It appeared well-maintained, showing the family’s care and respect for the late educator.

The teachers held a moment of worship, consoling themselves with a song during their brief time together.

Some looked down to hide their sorrowful faces as they struggled to keep their emotions in check.

The home compound also appeared neat, with plenty of trees enhancing the natural beauty of the environment.

Several houses could be seen in the background of the footage as the camera panned around, capturing the emotional scene.

The video elicited numerous reactions from social media users, who shared their condolences and memories in the comments section.

Mstahiki Felix:

"A truly passionate coach. He once defeated my team, Senior Chief Musa Nyandusi Kegati, at the regional level on his home turf. Despite the loss, I stood next to him to compare our heights, thinking I was tall at 6'1", only to be humbled."

Lydiah Olambo:

"Rest in peace, Chief Principal Otula. Your dedication to education will never be forgotten. May your family find comfort in the memories of your remarkable life and legacy."

Jessica Tembo:

"A great disciplinarian—he handled the boys well. His services will be remembered."

Harvey Rieko Ombayi:

"I can see Odayo. May Otula's soul rest in peace."

Kennedy Mosongo:

"I coached against him as a young coach between Mang’u and Chania High School. Mang’u walloped us, but he had the courtesy to congratulate me on how our timeouts slowed his team down. A kind man. RIP, coach!"

Ko Mbo:

"This man literally crushed every chance for Cardy to reach the national basketball games—but I admired his passion for the sport and his insistence on education and discipline as essentials for being part of his team. All the players who went through his hands were truly blessed. May his soul rest in eternal peace."
