ST. LOUIS – After several days of torrential rainfall, a stretch that has extended into the weekend, several spots around metro St. Louis are now experiencing rising waters and significant flooding threats.

Several rivers and creeks are currently well above normal levels, with some already seeing flooding. Many river level forecasts are predicting moderate to major flooding into early next week.

According to data compiled by FOX 2 from the National Weather Service, the following areas are believed to be or soon to be experiencing flooding.

A major flood stage indicates extensive inundation of roads and structures, which could potentially require some evacuations and prolonged disruptions to daily life, according to the National Weather Service. Bodies of water at this designation are likely 6 feet above flood stage levels.

As of Saturday evening, the Meramec River is forecast to crest at 28 feet in Valley Park and 31.4 feet in Eureka, both between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Kaskaskia River is expected to crest at 26.5 feet in Vandalia by 7 p.m. Sunday, while the river is believed to be past crest in New Athens.

A moderate flood stage indicates flooding of some structures and main roadways that may extend into residential areas. Bodies of water at this designation could be 3 to 6 feet above flood stage levels.

As of Saturday evening, the Big River in Byrnesville is the only river currently at or on pace for a moderate flood stage. It is forecast to crest at 24.3 feet by 7 p.m. Sunday.

Dardenne Creek had a crest level of 21.1 on Saturday morning, though it is believed to be already past crest.

A minor flood stage typically results in flooding of low-lying areas, including some roads, parks and private properties. Bodies of water at this designation could be anywhere from 1 to 3 feet above flood stage levels.

As of Saturday evening, these are the applicable crest projections
