First Look at Nintendo Switch 2 Cartridge

Nintendo has provided the first look at a Nintendo Switch 2 game cartridge ahead of the console's launch next month. A video from the Nintendo Today app showcases the official Switch 2 carry case, which includes slots for up to six Nintendo Switch 1 and Switch 2 cartridges.
Switch 2 cartridges maintain the same size and shape as Switch 1 cartridges, allowing the Switch 2 to use a single cartridge slot for games from both console generations. However, Switch 2 cartridges are red, a universal design choice. The top of the cartridge features a Switch 2 logo instead of the Nintendo Switch design found on original cartridges.
The official Switch 2 carrying case accommodates the console with Joy-Con 2 controllers attached, six cartridges, and two Joy-Con 2 straps. Despite the new color and logo, Switch 2 cartridges are identical to their predecessors, including the foul-tasting coating applied to prevent ingestion.
Switch 2 director Takuhiro Dohta stated that this coating is intended to discourage consumption, ensuring user safety. The Switch 2 is scheduled to launch on June 5, 2025. Additionally, reports indicate that Samsung, a key electronics partner of Nintendo, is considering a hardware refresh for the Switch 2 with an OLED screen upgrade.
