FG to give out 5 million gas cylinders by 2030
The Federal Government plans to give out five million gas cylinders to homes all over Nigeria by the year 2030 to help more people use clean and safe cooking fuel.
Minister of Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, said this at the start of the gas cylinder distribution programme in Sokoto State’s North West Zone on Monday.
Ekpo said the programme is part of the government’s effort to provide cleaner and safer ways for Nigerians to cook.
The programme has already started in other parts of the country, like the South West, South South, North East, and the Federal Capital Territory.
He explained that the programme will help reduce air pollution inside homes, stop cutting down too many trees, create jobs for women and young people, and support local businesses that make and sell gas cylinders.
Ekpo stated, “With support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our goal is to distribute five million LPG cylinders by 2030, converting one million households each year to cleaner, safer, and more sustainable cooking methods.
“This programme isn’t just about gas—it’s about health, opportunity, and environmental responsibility.”
