The Federal Government has declared Friday and Monday, June 6 and 9 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulated all Muslim Ummah at home and in the Diaspora on this occasion.

He called on the Muslim Ummah to continue to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him) and to use the period to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.

In a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the minister assured Nigerians that the people-oriented reforms and initiatives carried out in furtherance of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration are to restore Nigeria on the path of progress.

ALSO, the Kano State government has declared June 4 to 16 as the Eid-el-Kabir holiday for all primary and secondary schools in the state.

The Commissioner for Education, Ali Makoda, issued a statement on Sunday, signed by the ministry’s Public Enlightenment Director, Balarabe Kiru.

Makoda said the break does not alter any aspect of the 2024/2025 academic calendar, including official holidays.

He said students in boarding school would observe the break until June 15, while day students are expected to return on June 16.

Makoda asked parents and guardians of boarding students to pick their wards on the morning of June 4. He also urged them to ensure the timely return of their children after the break.
