The Federal Government has confirmed Major General Abdulmalik Jibrin (Rtd), as the Secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) after his appointment by President Bola Tinubu.
Jibrin takes over from Ja’afaru Ahmed, the former Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).
Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Board, (CDCFIB), Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, while formerly welcoming the board secretary, Maj. Gen. Jibrin, tasked him to bring his experience to bear in handling cases of discipline of erring officers, promotions of officers and other appointments.
At a meeting to adopt and confirm Jibrin as the new board Secretary in Abuja, Tunji-Ojo said that the three key roles of the board are discipline, promotion, recruitment and appointment of officers across all the paramilitary agencies under the Federal Ministry of Interior.
Represented by the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, the minister noted that the board remains a pivotal part of his agenda to promote the renewed hope agenda of the government.
Earlier, Abdulmalik assured President Bola Tinubu of his commitment to serve Nigeria in his new role as board secretary and that he will continue the reforms initiated by his predecessor.
