Fenty Beauty Takes Over Soho in Limited Event Celebrating Lips and Inclusivity
The mauve pink FU$$Y4EVR Fenty taxi cab with a jumbo Fenty lipgloss on top, pulled up to the launch of the limited weekend Fenty Beauty Pop Up Shop called The Gloss Bomb Shop, located in Soho on 121 Greene Street on May 9th-11th. The new pop-up shop and its partnership with Shopify brought out proud and dedicated members of the Rihanna Navy. The pop-up shop is celebrating a new addition to her successful lip products with new shades called Grape Splash, an iridescent lavender with shimmer, and her new lipliner Bored Heaux (pronounced hoe), a dark burgundy shade.
The pop-up shop blasted Beyonce and Rihanna’s top hits like “Russian Roulette” and “Rude Boy”, and was an event that embodied the New York City culture and allowed fans to play and have fun. The line was already a block long an hour before the opening at 11 AM.
The small event with six Fenty make-up artists ready to help you pick your shade and give lip makeovers. The lip products were available for purchase on-site. There were exclusive deals based on how many products were purchased at the event. Three or more products gave an exclusive Fenty tote bag, four or more products gave a tote bag, and a new and limited fuzzy Fu$$y Keychain for your Fenty lip gloss. And six or more products, gave the tote bag, fuzzy Fu$$y keychain, and free gemification of your Fenty lipgloss on the spot.
If you were not able to purchase a product, there was an option to receive a free travel Fenty lip oil by taking a photo of the event, post it on social media and tagging Fenty Beauty and Shopify, and one of the make-up artists would provide an arcade token for the Fenty claw machine.
There were also plenty of photo opportunities with oversized Fenty lipgloss displays and life-size Fenty lipgloss pouring out of the lipgloss and the floor-size fuzzy Fu$$y lipgloss holder. Many excited members of the Navy were hopeful to see Rihanna make an appearance at the event. According to one of the Fenty make-up artists, ” I wish the Queen was going to be here, but unfortunately, she won’t be able to be here.” This could be due to the announcement of her third pregnancy, which she made last week at the Met Gala.
Many people waiting in the line were excited to be there and ready for photo opportunities. Venezuelan multilingual radio host and journalist Gretta Paooli Rodrigo from the radio show, El Mananero con Gretta and La Ruta de New York, came out ready to take photos and promotion for her show. “I love the brand and Rihanna!” said Rodrigo. ” I thought it was a perfect spot for nice photos and videos,” she said.
Many shoppers came to the event to show Bajan pride and support the brand, which is a black-owned and women–owned business. “I came out to represent!” said Rose Walks, a New York City MTA worker and a Barbados native. I came out because I’m from the same country and the same neighborhood,” said Walks.
She wasn’t the only Bajan to come out to show their pride in their country.” I am out here supporting a fellow Bajan lady like myself,” said Ashley Hinds, Bajan-native Content Creator and Editor-in-Chief of the plus-size fashion blog, Big Beautiful Black Girls. Hinds was having a full photoshoot with the Fu$$y Fenty Cab outside the pop-up shop for her social media and explaining the importance of the pop-up event. “It’s good to support your fellow entrepreneurs, especially the ones who come from the island of Barbados. It is such a pride to see how far she has come and to see the products she is releasing so far,” she said.
Some shoppers came to the event because they had met the pop star at past events and wanted to show support for her brand. “I met her before, and she was really nice,” said Michelle Robinson, a New York City tester for a software company.” I love the products, and they are very high quality,” she said.
Inside the pop-up shop, more shoppers came in to take photos and show off their fashion sense. The bright and colorful content creator Bre, aka IG@pupsnchoclate, came to the pop-up event. “I enjoy pop-ups!” said Bre, wearing her rainbow color fur jacket and taking photos for social media. “I really like Fenty, but I had not had a chance to try their lip products, so I came out to have a good time!” she said.
The pop-up also provided free cans of poppi soda for the shoppers waiting in the line. poppi sodas was another sponsor of the event and had a giveaway for four winners to win free Poppi Sodas and Fenty lip products, taking photos at the pop-up, and tagging @drinkpoppi and other shoppers in the photo.
The Fenty pop-up will go on until 6 PM for the rest of the weekend. Once shoppers leave the pop-up, they can get the full photoshoot experience with the Fenty taxi cab. Shoppers can scan a QR code and sign up with their e-mail, and get a professional photoshoot for their social media and feel like a top supermodel.

I adore every lip shade, but the shimmery Grape Splash Gloss Bomb! Definitely one of my new favorites!” she said.
The pop-up event was a fun event celebrating island pride and inclusivity in the beauty world, and made members of the Navy proud supporters of the brand. As you leave the pop-up, you leave with the message reminding shoppers to get “Get Lost in the Gloss.”
