Federal workers received correct salaries in January, February, says OAGF

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has clarified that federal workers received their correct salaries in January and February 2025. The office said there were no shortfalls in payments.
A statement from the OAGF, signed by Bawa Mokwa, Director of Press and Public Relations, explained that workers received their regular salaries after all outstanding arrears were paid between October and December 2024.
The OAGF released the statement to address concerns about supposed salary shortfalls and to reassure federal workers.
“Different salary arrears were paid in the last three months of 2024,” the OAGF said. “These included minimum wage arrears, 25 percent/35 percent salary increase arrears, and wage award arrears. This caused salaries to be unusually high in that period.”
The office added: “The payment of regular salaries, after the arrears were exhausted, started in January 2025. This made some workers think they were paid less, but they received their normal salaries. Checking the current salary table will confirm this.”
The OAGF said that unless there are new salary arrears in the future, the amounts paid in January and February 2025 will be the standard salaries until the government makes any changes.
The office also mentioned that some workers received overpayments in December 2024 due to a system error. This error has been fixed, and deductions are being made from the salaries of those affected to recover the overpaid amounts.
Regarding promotion arrears, the OAGF said that the Budget Office of the Federation (BOF) handles this through a committee. The BOF compiles and checks all salary and promotion arrears from government agencies before sending them to the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) for payment.
The OAGF stated that IPPIS has paid batches 1 to 6 of promotion arrears and is waiting for more batches from the BOF.
