Fashion designer accused of stabbing man to death overstabilizer - Daily Trust

Faith Adeola, a fashion designer, has allegedly stabbed a middle-aged man to death over a missing stabilizer in the Oka Akoko, Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Adeola, who has been dragged before an Akure Division of the Magistrates Court, allegedly killed Gbenga Olotu with a knife at Ikese community in Oka Akoko.

The suspect was arraigned before the court on a count charge bothering on murder by the police. 

It was gathered that a dispute had ensued between Adeola and Olotu, who he described as his street brother.

During the altercation, it was learned that the deceased, who was allegedly under the influence of hard drugs, attempted to stab Adeola and his wife with a knife.

However, Adeola managed to wrest the knife from him and subsequently stabbed him in the chest.

Witnesses said that the deceased was later rushed to the general hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The matter was said to have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure.

The prosecutor, Inspector Folashade Adeyemi, said the defendant committed the offence at 2:30pm on May 8, 2025.

The charge read that, “Faith Adeola ‘m’, on May 10, 2025, at about 2:30, at Ikese community, Oka-Akoko, in the Ondo State Magisterial District, did unlawfully stabbed one Olotu Gbenga ‘m’ a.k.a. “Zagazar” with a knife on his chest and also hit him with wood on his body, which resulted in his death.”

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, Nigeria, 2006.

The defendant’s plea was not taken.

Adeyemi prayed the court to remand the defendant to the correctional centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP.

The defence counsel sought an adjournment to enable their clients to react to the application sought by the prosecution.

The magistrate, Mrs. R.I. Adelakin, adjourned the case till May 29 for the hearing of the application and ruling.

Adelakin consequently ordered the remand of the defendant at the SCID, Akure.
