Falz addresses rumoured relationship with Bobrisky

Nigerian rapper and actor, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has denied claims linking him romantically to crossdresser Bobrisky, following a leaked phone call that stirred reactions online in 2024.

The video, which trended on social media, was first posted by online critic, VeryDarkMan, who alleged that Falz was in close contact with Bobrisky during the crossdresser’s time behind bars.

Falz, while speaking on Arise TV on Wednesday night, said the conversation was taken out of context and had nothing to do with a relationship.

According to him, Bobrisky had reached out on Instagram like many others do, seeking help.

“I never had any relationship with Bobrisky prior to that phone call. He messaged me on Instagram and said, ‘I’m in this case and I want to speak to you about how you can help,’” Falz said.

He explained that he usually responds to such requests out of compassion, adding, “This is not a special case; it’s not exceptional in any way.”

Speaking further, Falz stated he now regrets the call, saying, “Maybe I will be much more conscious.”

The entertainer also gave an update on his ongoing lawsuit against VeryDarkMan.

He said a defamation suit filed by him and his father, Femi Falana, SAN, was already in court and had survived a preliminary objection.

“As at the last date, I was in court. The court has thrown out that preliminary objection. Now they have to enter a defense or the court will just go on to rule on the case,” he said.

Bobrisky, born Idris Okuneye, had been sentenced to six months in April 2024 for mutilating naira notes and was released in August.

VeryDarkMan, on the other hand, has also been in the news for several legal battles involving cyber bullying and defamation.
