'Fake' doctor must be jailed for fraud - Lecturer

Anne Sansa Daly's appointment as board member of NHIA has been revoked

A lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School and a governance analyst, Dr Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, has called for the prosecution of Anne Sansa Daly, describing her actions as a fraudulent deception of the entire nation.

Sharing his views on the incident, which has sparked public backlash, Dr Otchere-Ankrah told GhanaWeb on June 1, 2025, that she should face the consequences of her actions, including possible imprisonment.

“That woman should go to jail. This lady ought to be punished. It is pure fraud,” he stated.

Dr Otchere-Ankrah further expressed his disappointment and frustration over the fact that Anne Sansa Daly was given a major platform on a media network to host a health show, despite her questionable credentials and background.

He raised serious concerns about the potential danger her medical commentary could pose to the public, adding that given her dubious background, she might disseminate misleading information that could put people at risk.

“The lady, I'm told, was hosting a health programme on television. And you know how many people may have listened to her? They would have been misled. It's very dangerous and people are not even seeing the gravity of what she has done. Even if you are not a medical doctor, this is about people's health and we allowed her to host a health programme,” he queried.

The governance expert further stated that if the public had not uncovered the truth about her background, Anne Sansa Daly would have proceeded to serve as a board member, providing input on health insurance policy, something he described as 'extremely dangerous’.

“And she was appointed because she is what - a health expert onto health insurance. If she had not been caught, she was going to decide, you and I, how we should be treated using that policy. It's extremely dangerous,” he stated.

He questioned how similar incidents continue to occur, with fraudulent individuals being appointed to key positions without their backgrounds being properly vetted, allowing them to make decisions that affect the lives of the public.

In light of this, he called for drastic measures to be taken, particularly thorough background checks on government appointees, to prevent such occurrences in the future.

“Somebody ought to be punished for it. We have allowed some of these things, and I'm wondering how many other people may be faking around with all kinds of certificates. And this calls for action that we investigate some further for all other members, otherwise, we will be led astray,” he concluded.
