F1 first review: Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, and Pierre Gasly impressed with Brad Pitt’s movie, say “The storytelling is really cool”

The Formula 1 drivers have given their verdict on the upcoming Brad Pitt film titled F1 after attending its special screening in Monaco. Directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame and co-produced by Lewis Hamilton, the film also stars most of the current F1 drivers in guest roles, and they were indeed happy to see themselves on the silver screen.

While Esteban Ocon found a glimpse of himself in Brad’s onscreen character, Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris were impressed by the film’s storyline.

F1 stars Brad Pitt as a Formula 1 driver who goes on to mentor a rookie, played by Damson Idris, and also realizes his own forgotten dream of becoming the best F1 driver in the world. The film has been shot in real F1 cars on real racetracks, with Brad Pitt performing his own racing scenes.Charles Leclerc confessed that F1 drivers tend to get overly analytical in real life, but he was still impressed with the film. He said, "The storytelling is really cool and the images are just incredible. The job that the team has done in order to have different angles that we don’t actually see on racetracks is really cool. I really enjoyed it.”Lando Norris liked the movie and was impressed with the storyline. Praising his own cameo in the film, the McLaren driver said, “I was brilliant in it and that was the main thing!” and went on to add, “It was a cool story, I think an inspirational story – it had a lot of different meanings behind it all.

But a cool storyline and a lot of inspiration for young people coming into it.”

Pierre Gasly called the movie screening a beautiful experience. Talking about it, the Alpine driver said, “I think people are going to enjoy – it’s a real dive into our world of Formula 1 for us as drivers but also all the people evolving around Formula 1. So I’m sure people will like it, a great production and it’s kind of funny to also feature in a movie!”Haas driver Esteban Ocon connected with Brad Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes, in the film and called it the best racing film he had ever seen.

“Honestly awesome. I’ve never seen such an image and how immersive it is when you are inside the car. Obviously I know it in reality but in the movie you can really feel the speed and the story is super entertaining, which was really fun to watch,” he said.“I got to see myself quite a lot of times racing with Sonny, which was quite close at times! I enjoyed that one too. Honestly a beautiful movie. Well done to F1, well done to all the crew and everyone – the producers – that have worked on the movie. I think it’s honestly fantastic and it’s definitely the best movie of racing that I’ve seen,” he added. Also Read: F1 movie screening: Watch Oscar Piastri, Charles Leclerc and George Russell arrive with their girlfriends in styleF1 also stars Kerry Condon and Javier Bardem in pivotal roles.
