Racing into first this weekend Apple Studios F1 the movie takes gold with a studio best 55.6 million for its premiere. Not only a strong domestic start the international release which was co-helmed with Warner Bros. helping with distribution for Apple Studios mega summer tent poll saw an additional 88.4 million across multiple territories. With a huge share of IMAX screens until July, F1 has the chance to keep up with a strong head start and earning back its 200 million budget.
F1 will need to stay ahead of its competition but doesn’t seem to have much of a challenge with the M3GAN 2.0 bombing landing in fourth with 10.2 million losing to Elio which bomded its opening last weekend and continued thids week with a low performance for Pixar. Both though, losing to How To Train Your Dragon in second which brought in 19.4 million in its third week.
Another disappointing box office performance in 28 Years Later though managed to hang on the top five with 9.7 Million for its second weekend, though much of this is still attributed to advertising failing to highlight the film’s focus on an emotional storyline over the zombie lore.
In sixth Lilo & Stitch beat Mission Impossible The Final Reckoning with 6.9 million over 4.15 million both in their sixth weekend. From A24 Materialists took eighth with 2.99 million for its third week in a still solid run for the indie studio.
In ninth hanging on is From the World of John Wick Ballerina with 2.13 million stillttying to survive.
For tenth Karate Kid Legends is one more kick away from falling down with only 1 million after barely hanging on in the last five weeks.
